Education for employment.

As chemical engineers find jobs outside the realm of traditional chemicals, petroleum and pharmaceuticals, and venture into the emerging sectors of the process industries, such, as nanotechnology and bioprocessing, their mettle will be tested. How prepared are today's Ch.E.s for these new challenges? What skills will they need in the future?

To address some of these questions and prepare Ch.E.s for the challenges ahead, the World Chemical Engineering Council (WCEC; Frankfurt; chemengworld.org) conducted a global survey of young chemical engineers to determine how well their education has prepared them for the changing demands of their chosen profession.
